See you next year!

Buddy farewell

Today was our last time with our buddy class. We've had a lot of fun together this year. We look forward to seeing our buddies around the school next year.

End of the year....

What a fabulous year we have had!  Every single name on this Wordle has been a significant member of our class this year.  Some came midway through the year and some left during the year, but each person had an impact on my life as a teacher and on each other's lives as learners.  Parents, thank you for sharing your amazing children with me five days a week.  For those who I was privileged to teach twice in their time at CBS and for those whose siblings I've taught, it was wonderful to be part of your family's learning journey once again.  For the children who were new to me, I've loved getting to know you.  I wish all 'my kids' an amazing future and know you will all go on to do great things!  I look forward to keeping up with your learning journey through your blogs, and hopefully, maybe someday, I will be fortunate enough to welcome you to Canada and show you my other home!

All the best and thanks for a tremendous and memorable year!

When Santa got stuck in the chimney

We watched part of this movie and then we had to write the ending, how we think Santa got unstuck.  Our stories were VERY creative!   Then we published them and created our own works of art.

Coding

We have been learning more about coding on a great website at code.org. It's great to learn a new skill and practice coding to make new programmes online.

Reflections on Year 5

We have been reflecting on our year in Room 3. We've spent time rereading our class blog and then borrowed pictures and videos to add to our own blogs of our favourite things. Make sure to check our personal blogs to read what we really enjoyed about our year!!

Buddy Class Christmas Art

On Friday we spent time with our buddies doing some Christmas art.  First we gave them cards we had made and a little gift (from Mrs Nichol's daughters' extra stuffies!)  Then we taught our buddies how to make their own Christmas tree cards using 10cm pieces of paper that we had to cut to make a tree.  Ask us how we did it... we are pretty clever!   We also used rolled paper dipped in green paint to create trees, with fingerprint decorations.  Afterwards we had our lunch together.

Waterwise

Today was our turn for Waterwise at Howick Beach. Unfortunately the winds were up and so were the waves so we only had a short time with each activity. Everyone had a great time though and we were thankful that it wasn't completely called off!

Market day

Wednesday was our school's market day. We were the carnival clearance centre. We creatively repackaged the left over items from the carnival and sold them for $2 a bag. They were a huge success!! Towards the end we slashed our price to $1 to ensure that they all sold. We made $127 profit!

Somerville Intermediate Visit

On Thursday we were able to accompany the Year 6 students on their annual visit to Somerville Intermediate to take part in a morning of various electives and activities that the Year 8 students prepared and led.  Everyone is now very excited for 2017 when we get to attend Intermediate!

Library

While we were in the library this week another class came in and so we decided to read to them. These are the newest students to our school and it was fun to spend time with them.

Also in the first picture is the newest addition to our class, Annabelle. We are so happy to have her join our class for the end of the year.
