Speech practice

We have been working diligently on preparing our persuasive writing for our speech competition. Everyone has researched facts to support their arguments. We are just about all at the stage to begin practicing reciting our speeches in preparation to present them. Today Michelle and Josh had a trial run and we discussed the important aspects of our presentations like eye contact, clear voice, expression, etc. We will all be presenting our speeches in class next Friday.

Stardome

On Monday we went to the Stardome in Auckland. We learnt so many interesting facts about the solar system and outer space. We also got to look at the exhibits  in the main area before we went into the planetarium theatre for an amazing movie  on the domed screen. 

Fitness

This week our fitness rotation has been strength and agility. We go to the various playgrounds around the school and practice our skills.

Salute!

Our class enjoys playing a fun game called Salute. Two players receive a card which they put on their foreheads without looking at. A third player decides if the round will be addition, subtraction, multiplication or division and says the answer to what the two cards total. The player who guesses what their card is first wins.

Holiday birthdays

A double birthday celebration in class today to wish Jordan and Charlotte a happy birthday during the holidays!!

We have three types of birthday pictures that the children love to pose for so I'll put them all up today.

Welcome Blake

This week we welcomed Blake into our class. He is from China and is learning English. We are happy to have Blake join us. 

End of term

Out of this world, our new unit. We researched what the planets looked like and sketched and coloured our own solar systems. 

Reading our PPP letters. Thank you for the lovely letters you wrote to your children about their recent PPPs. The children thoroughly enjoyed reading them. 

End of term boys' picnic. Today the boys had their classroom picnic complete with animated videos and computer games. 

Happy birthday to Tobey!!

Extra reason for Tobey to celebrate today. He was awarded the CBS celebration award for our class for consistently demonstrating the CBS core values. Well done Tobey!

Today the girls had a special end of term picnic complete with colouring in pages from Mrs Nichol's calming colouring book!!
