Waterwise

Today was our turn for Waterwise at Howick Beach. Unfortunately the winds were up and so were the waves so we only had a short time with each activity. Everyone had a great time though and we were thankful that it wasn't completely called off!

Market day

Wednesday was our school's market day. We were the carnival clearance centre. We creatively repackaged the left over items from the carnival and sold them for $2 a bag. They were a huge success!! Towards the end we slashed our price to $1 to ensure that they all sold. We made $127 profit!

Somerville Intermediate Visit

On Thursday we were able to accompany the Year 6 students on their annual visit to Somerville Intermediate to take part in a morning of various electives and activities that the Year 8 students prepared and led.  Everyone is now very excited for 2017 when we get to attend Intermediate!

Library

While we were in the library this week another class came in and so we decided to read to them. These are the newest students to our school and it was fun to spend time with them.

Also in the first picture is the newest addition to our class, Annabelle. We are so happy to have her join our class for the end of the year.

Continuous Improvement and Money News

In our pursuit of continuous improvement we reviewed the first videos we made and discussed ways we could make them better.  We talked about making sure that each person in the group had the facts shared that they had researched.  We also talked about presentation and ensuring that we were acting sensibly, speaking clearly and presenting ourselves well.  Lastly we discussed camera angles and how to ensure that the iPad was held steady during recording and that the microphone was picking up our voices.  We are super proud of these videos!

NZ Money - Money Matters

This week as part of our Money Matters theme we researched, read and took notes on various aspects of New Zealand money.  After we collected our individual notes on our specific money or topic, we collaborated with our group to write a script for a news broadcast to share our findings.  Once we had written our script and practiced it a few times, we filmed our news broadcast and published it to YouTube. On our individual blogs you will find the link to our video and to our collaborative research notes and script. (next week this will be posted on our individual blogs)

Friday fun!!

On Friday we were part of Somerville Intermediate School's syndicate Amazing Race. Teams of students came to our room throughout the day and joined with our students to dance to Watch Me. There is a video in the making but I had technical difficulties so I'll add it ASAP.
The students all had so much fun and were even very focused on their other tasks throughout the day as they waited their turns.
