Brad's experiment

Brad brought in a fun experiment.  We put very small, solid balls into water and within an hour they had expanded to large, soft, squishy balls that were very fun to play with!

Emily's experiment

Emily brought an experiment to school to share with us.  It is called 'Oobleck' and is made with cornstarch and water.  It was fun to see how it has the properties of both a liquid and a solid.

Mr Henty Comes To Visit by Tobey

Today Mr Henty came to visit our class and taught us about science. Phobic means fear of something and Philic means a love of something . Arachnophobia means fear of spiders. Philanthropy means love of people.  We had so much fun because I learnt lots of science thanks to Mr Henty. Hopefully we do more science this year!

Buddy Science

Milky way experiment.  We filled a small tray with milk.  Then we added a few drops of food colouring into the milk in separate places.  After we added a drop of dishwashing liquid, we used a toothpick to swirl the colours in the milk.  It made beautiful patterns.
Our next experiment was to make paperclip helicopters.  We had to follow directions to fold and cut the paper and add a paper clip to make our helicopters work.  We had fun letting them go from as high as we could reach and watching them spin to the ground.

Easter Eggs

We had a lot of fun dyeing Easter eggs with our buddies today. We used wax crayons to draw designs on our eggs and then we dipped them in dye to create colourful Easter eggs.

Te Tahawai Marae

We have finished publishing our writing about our visit to the Te Tahawai Marae. We began our writing prior to our visit, writing about what we anticipated would happen. Following our visit we wrote about our experience. As part of our publishing we drew and coloured a marae. Make sure to pop in and read our stories.
